Response to 1-12-09 post:
Great 2nd blog entry. By revealing the Religious Right's (such as the misfocused "Focus On The
Family") true agenda of "creating and enforcing national laws in accordance with the Law of God," you really
exposed the fallacy and, ultimately, ineffectiveness of their efforts. It's one thing to encourage or try to help others
live by God's laws; it's entirely another thing to attempt to legislate that morality.
I'd argue that homosexual marriage advocates have been more successful in influencing public opinion,
at least in part, because of the Religious Right's insistence over the years to publicly demonize homosexual people. I
also love your point about Jesus, and how the examples from His life showed "he was angered by people who used God’s
Law for their own purposes, to gain money, respect, or power. " And you are SOOO correct on the judgment front.

Response to 10/27 blog post:
In your blog on October 27, a week before Election Day, you wrote that
"the future of America may not be what many Christians would like for it to be. It will be what God has ordained
it will be." (italics mine) As Project Manager for The Presidential Prayer Team (www.presidentialprayerteam.org), I couldn't agree more. As a ministry that champions prayer for the President
of the United States and our national leaders with 1 Timothy 2:1-2 as our foundation, we know how vital it is for believers
to intercede for our president-elect, regarding of his political party, agenda or views. God places into authority those He
has chosen; He uses our votes to accomplish that purpose.
As difficult as it may be for those who would label themselves "conservative Republican
evangelicals" to believe, Bill Clinton was as much God's chosen man for our presidency as was George W. Bush. The
same is true of the winner on this year's presidential election. Either John McCain or Barack Obama was hand-picked by
God to the President of the United States "for such a time as this," and our biblical responsibility as children
of God is now to pray for the president-elect...for the Lord to give him wisdom, guidance, protection and success as our country's
president and military's commander-in-chief.
Hard to swallow for some. Perhaps. But our Scriptural mandate is clear. Our role is
to obey, willfully and lovingly.
