In the first chapter there is a good deal of description of people, places, and things. How do these descriptions become important later in the story?
Look at the exchange between Addien and Lord Balchder on page 8. Did this cause you to wonder what their future relationship would be? What did you think when Addien remembers this incident in a dream on page 96?
In Chapter Two, Brenin relates to Addien the history of his crown with its five stones. Do you agree or disagree that the five stones represent the powers of a good ruler or a good government?
Gennes and Colin meet in Chapter Four. Did their relationship develop in the way you expected? Did their relationship change or stay the same as the story progressed? Why do you think Colin continued to call Addien 'Gennie' until the last page of the story?
At what point did you realize that Gennes was the missing princess Addien? Did you find Addien's memory loss and the regaining of her memory convincing? Why or why not?
Do you believe that Trevilian was real or a figment of Addien's imagination? Did it seem strange to have a fairy tale creature in an otherwise realistic fiction story?

In the end, Lord Balchder asks for Addien's forgiveness. Do you believe he deserved her forgiveness? Do you think she had already forgiven him before this?
